How to compost sheep manure

Sheep manure is a quick-acting, slightly alkaline organic fertilizer, rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other elements. It’s suitable for use in a variety of soils. It has the functions of loosing soil, improving soil aggregate structure, preventing compaction and it can also improve saline-alkali soil and heavy clay. The application of sheep manure can significantly increase the yield of crops.

After being stacked for 15-30 days, the internal temperature of sheep manure can reach 50℃-70℃, which can kill pathogenic microorganisms, parasites and weed seeds in the sheep dung. Moreover, the decomposed compost is a late-acting fertilizer, which is harmless to crops. Generally, sheep dung can be spread on the ground covered with plastic film or in a cement groove. The sheep dung pile is no more than 2 meters high and 1.5-3 meters wide and the length depends on the situation. General compost method: The first is to stack the loose layer and keep it for 3-5 days when the temperature reaches 60℃-70℃. When the temperature of pile drops, the pile is compacted and then a layer is added. When this layer is stacked to 1.5-2 meters, it is sealed with plastic film. If the water content exceeds 75%, it is best to turn the pile by compost turner and splash water when it is below 60%. It will be used after 2-3 months of sealing.
The fermented sheep manure not only improves the fertility of soil, but also has strong capacity of retention and supply water. It can also stimulate the growth and growth of crop roots and enhance soil drought resistance. Except this, it can regulate the function of soil temperature and relieve the harm of soil low temperature and high temperature.
